Chapter 13 Bankruptcy: Debt Repayment Plan
In Chapter 13, also called a reorganization or a wage earner's plan, you will repay part of your debts over three to five years. The monthly payment is not based on what you owe, but what you can realistically afford. At the end of your plan, any remaining debts are wiped clean.
Chapter 13 is an option if you are not a candidate for Chapter 7 discharge of debts. For example, you may have to file for Chapter 13:
